My Steal of the day! Cheap Jewelry Finds.

Today there was an insane amount of jewelry at my workplace marked for .99 cents. Yes, .99 cents. I also should point out that I get an employee discount on top of that. Crazy, right?

Apparently we're going to stop carrying this line, so the plan is mark low to sell it all.

I picked out numerous pieces that I plan to work into other jewelry pieces and potential jewelry tutorials will be coming out soon ;)

I'm thinking about all kinds of possibilities...rhinestones, feathers, thread... you'll just have to stay tuned.

Happy Thursday!

Haute off the Bench: Tara Locklear

Yesterday, I went to the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore and bought this amazing ring from artist Tara Locklear. It's a Triple Deck Cocktail Ring. It's made out of old skateboard decks that have been converted into wooden gems.

Tara Locklear makes jewelry out of wood, concrete, metal and other materials. She had numerous pieces which had casted concrete components and they were absolutely beautiful.
Here I'm rocking my ring, sans makeup with bedhead hair.

Anyway, Tara is an artist you should definitely checkout.
You can find out more about her designs here:

Campbell's Skillet Sauces: Thai Green Curry with Lemongrass and Basil Review

"The aromatic flavors of lemongrass and basil blended with coconut milk, cilantro, and the subtle heat of jalapenos, creating a bold sauce that delivers an authentic Thai experience." -Via Campbell's Sauces Facebook Page

Last night, I made dinner with this sauce and I think I am in love. It's absolutely delicious.

I picked this Thai Green Curry sauce out at the grocery store because I figured it would be a timesaver while making Dinner. Now I definitely want to try all the other sauces Campbell's is offering in this line.

Other Campbell's Skillet Sauces:
Scampi with White Wine and Garlic
Marsala with Mushrooms and Garlic
Fire Roasted Tomato with Red Bell Peppers and Chiles
Creamy Chipotle with Roasted Corn and Black Beans
Toasted Sesame with Ginger and Garlic

The directions are super easy to follow.
Prep: 1 tbsp. of veggie oil, cut one pound of boneless skinless chicken breasts into strips.
1. Heat a Teaspoon of oil in your medium heat skillet.
2. Cook your chicken until it's browned.
3. Stir in the sauce, heat until boil. Cover and cook 5 minutes or until your chicken is completely cooked.

In the words of Emeril, "BAM!" Your Chicken Curry dinner is finished.

Tweaks: Vegetarian friendly! You could also add veggies directly into the sauce (think peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, etc.) or make it with tofu instead of chicken.

Campbell's recommends trying this recipe over steamed rice.

Jason was in the mood for potatoes and since he never had thai anything before, I made some mashed potatoes and green beans to go on our plates.

I liked that this curry had a kick but wasn't too spicy as I've had some really hot Green Curries before.

Jason loved the curry as much as I did. He even used the rest of the sauce almost like a gravy on his potatoes.

Rating Overall: A+. Definitely going to buy this sauce again.

For more information on these sauces you can check out Campbell's Sauce Facebook here.

Have you tried any of Campbell's Skillet Sauces yet? Did you like them? Let me know!

A change...

collage from my sketchbook, 2/21/13

I am opening up to a new career, leaving the world of working as a Visual Merchandiser.

I will be starting a marketing and sales job the week after next, if it's not everything I'm after I'll move on to the next thing that sparks my interest.

I'm at the point where I'm ready to take more risks and financially I would like to be in a better place, saving more when I can and finding a real career that makes me happy.

Today someone I work with told me that the numbers eight eight eight read as money, my birthday is eight eight eighty-six so I'm going to take this as a good sign that something prosperous is out there for me.

Happy Thursday night everyone!

V-Day

My boyfriend is pretty much the sweetest.

I had a feeling he wouldn't go all cliche and would surprise me with something I wanted/love/appreciated for Valentine's Day.
I worked late hours all week so I could have Friday off and was massively tired...
I opened the door to find him saying "Happy Valentine's Day Babe," with roses in his hands.

My resonse: "Awww thanks babe, do we have a vase?"
He today me he had thought of that too and pulled out a super fun vase from our kitchen.

We hugged and shared a kiss, it was perfect. (Sorry for the mushy stuff).

Sitting on the couch were two wrapped presents, one ended up being a bag of Sour Patch kids (My favorite) and the other present was *Drumroll please* these:

My boyfriend absolutely knows the way to my heart, bright colored kicks.
You see we always window shop and browse online for shoes. About a month ago, we were out in a mall and I spotted a pair of bright colored rainbow osiris shoes on clearance, alas they only had one pair and it wasn't in my size. I was disappointed. So you see, Jason made it his mission to find me another pair of bright osiris shoes. He's the best.

My co-workers were convinced I was getting engaged when Jason told me he was worried his present might be an "epic fail," because I went and bought three pairs of shoes last weekend. Thank you, Nine West. However, it was flats and a pair of heels, no sneakers.

Our Valentine's Day meal: Spaghetti with Pesto, Sauteed Shrimp (With Garlic and Basil) and Sundried Tomatoes with some Parmesan Cheese. It was delicious, It's Jason's favorite thing I make. He also loves Pesto on anything, so pesto automatically equals a win in his eyes. ;)

I hope you all had an amazing Valentine's Day whether you're with someone or your own Valentine. Did you write about your V-Day experience? Let me know, I would love to read it! :)

Friday's Favorites!

What a hectic week it was! I worked a bunch and got off early today because of it.

Here is a review of some of my favorite moments from the week thus far:

1. Stumbling across this great illustration on the internet (I wish I knew who made it), it's really beautiful for obvious reasons. ;)

2. We got a sodastream! Here is Jason putting it together in the living room (we really were that excited about it). So far I'm pretty impressed with the bubbles, selection of flavors and the fact that we are reducing bottles/cans in the house.

3. This dinner I made the other night. Baked Chicken with Basil, Cabernet Marinara and Linguine. It was delicious, I told Jason I was having a moment with the food.

4. This is the cutest picture ever. Thanks facebook!

5. Finding this Pink Grapefruit natural loofah soap from aqua blossom
I'm on a real citrus soap kick lately!

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

What made me love the Super Bowl...

Okay, so I'm sure everyone is already over the Superbowl by now. Maybe?

...But here are three things that made me LOOOOVE the superbowl this year, sans a few cool commercials and the awesome food I got to eat. The Freshly made Guacamole was my favorite.

1. Beyonce re-united with Destiny's Child to perform. You go ahead B, Kelly and Michelle. I loved it.

2. Beyonce of course sang Single Ladies. I love Single Ladies and even though I am no longer a "single lady," while singing along my boyfriend made the cutest/funniest comment ever. When it came to the line "If you liked it then you should of put a ring on it..." My boyfriend responded "I do like it, that's why I put a ring on it." I couldn't stop laughing. He was referring to the ring he bought me for Hanukkah, which I don't take off. He's the best.

3. The Ravens won and made confetti angels. People are already claiming they aren't coming to work tomorrow because the Ravens are now back in town and are having a parade tomorrow. At work, we had "ravens" donuts for breakfast to celebrate.

Now I'm ready for baseball season! What about you?

I get inspiration from things I find...

I know a lot of people get hesitant in their sketchbooks when they see a blank page. I work out many future ideas for my context and projects through making collages.

I get my inspiration from things I find, all over the place.

For instance, in this collage above:

1. Shark came from a prize in a box of Cracker Jacks.
2. "Made in America" piece came from a box of Christmas Ornaments from work.
3. Floor Sample sticker taken off an old mannequin shoe at my job and then shoved in my pocket.
4. Red Triangle and B cut from an alumni college catalog that showed up in our mail.
5. Turquoise rectangle piece, leftover bit of wrapping paper from the Holidays.
6. Bullets cut from a bracelet in a fashion magazine.

When you see a piece of paper you like, cut it out. Paste it. See what you come up with.

Happy Saturday!

My work week at a glance...

This week was crazy busy at work.
I feel like I always have a neverending to do list to accomplish and one of my co-worker keeps joking that I need to look up the word "break" in a dictionary. "Seriously Jenn, Do you ever sit down?" NO!

Here are some interesting moments from my work week:

My co-worker keeps finding love notes all over the store. She found this on one of our mannequins and then found a pin that read "You are loved." Sounds like something out of a movie, eh? Anyway, whoever you are out there leaving these things for us to find when the store is a disaster, THANK YOU. The pick me up is appreciated. Also, check out the website listed...what beautiful positive messages!

Remember how I just said the store is a disaster? Well, our mannequins keep getting destroyed...they're also missing arms/hands. SERIOUSLY. This fact is actually depressing, but I had a really funny conversation with my boss about trying to fix the hands/video game piece above.

Me: "Do we have any blue paint to fix this with after I somehow glue it back together?"
Boss: *Opens desk drawer* "Ummmm I have a ball point pen..."
Me: "Maybe I should just scribble all over it before someone else does."
Boss: "What about a highlighter..."

We both started laughing. Maybe it was one of those things where you had to be there. Anyway, frat guys/immature people/weirdos please stop stealing the hands of mannequins from your local department store. It's not cool, they hardly get replaced and these one armed mannequins are never in style.

Doesn't it look like I had a fight with all these cosmetics ads and they won? False. This is my weekly amount of cosmetics ads that I change...this mess is created on my desk once a week getting them all together for being put up the following day. Oddly enough, you also can see some menswear spring dress shirt promos going on at the same time.

This work week ended by buying a super cute pair of shoes and they were a steal! I can't wait to wear them this weekend. Excuse, the cluttered photo...I was just that excited.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!
