Happy Sunday.

Hey Friends,

I am spending most of my Sunday in the studio (hopefully) and then I'll be watching the Superbowl.

Currently, I am working on a copper plate for an etching and listening to the movie "Henry Poole is Here" on Netflix (I've seen it numerous times actually).

Here are some sketches I've been meaning to upload to my blog (ink/pencil on rives heavyweight paper in handmade books with handmade paper covers)

Today I did something really stupid..

So, Today I did something really dumb and I couldn't stop laughing about it.

I have a studio in a complex with seven other artists (we're all grad students working on our Masters in Fine Arts). The complex is shaped like a horseshoe and there are two doors that lock from the outside. Once you get into the complex, there are 8 individual studios...and each had it's own lock (combination or padlock). Well...

I was running downstairs to the printmaking studio to grab something and without thinking, I LOCKED my KEYS inside my studio.
CRAP. On my keys..keys to other rooms in the building, my car, my house, my mailbox.

I decided I would grab a tall ladder and climb over the one wall...
I landed fine jumping over (but I wouldn't recommend this)
SMART RIGHT??

WRONG!
I realized this when I jumped over to get my keys and then remembered "THE LOCK IS LOCKED ON THE OUTSIDE"

I just started laughing.
Why? My Studio neighbors are usually around on various times on Wednesday and this was about 1:30 in the afternoon, so usually the majority of us are in our studios in the complex.

My studio neighbor was making frames all day and literally came back into the complex and unlocked my studio for me with me throwing over my keys.

I laughed about it all afternoon.

Have you ever done something so silly??

I eat a variety of things but the majority of things I tend to photograph is when I eat out (so disclaimer, these posts are made when I have multiple photos)

-A spicy seafood dish and mango sticky rice
Jo Shmo's in Lawrence, Kansas
-Nachos (which JR loved, they were okay but I am picky about nachos) and an awesome salad.
Mirth Cafe in Lawrence, Kansas
-Awesome breakfast! And JR and I also split a black bean quesadilla, we were really full but the food was awesome.
Pepperjax in Lawrence, Kansas
-LOVE their sandwiches, here is my "cheese steak"
Papa Keno's Pizza in Lawrence, Kansas
-remember that giant slice of pizza in an earlier blog post? yup, Papa Keno's..best pizza in Lawrence, KS and possibly one of my favorites I've ever eaten.
Aladdin's Cafe in Lawrence, Kansas
-Authentic Middle Eastern food in Kansas, seriously! I've been to the middle east and their falafel, hummus and baba gannoush taste like it should! :)

Pottery Painting with JR

My boyfriend JR came to town this weekend (he lives 1200 miles away) and we went pottery painting.
And let me tell you, my boyfriend can paint some pottery :)

I painted the tiny purple container with an octopus and the yellow soup mug.
He painted the wonderful fish container with an underwater scene.

I can't wait to see them after they're fired! It's going to be awesome!
