Playing Draw Something with my Best Friend

I really really really really love playing the game Draw Something on my phone.

It's a lip bitting ordeal watching your number of rounds go up.

My boyfriend happily plays with me even though he claims his fingers are too big for the little screen.

He sent me a screenshot he did of a round with someone else earlier and this was the drawing:

The text caption read "I love you."
I think it's sweet that he sent me his drawing of a rose.
A drawing will last longer than a real one ;)

Here are some more recent favorites of "drawings" we did for each other.

A portrait of us dancing. lol.

My take on describing/drawing the infamous Mullet hairstyle.

Jason illustrating the Dodgers.
We like to imitate Vince Scully a lot. This one gave me a good laugh.

Nemo. The cutest clownfish in the sea...Jason thinks I draw him well every time.

Do you play Draw Something? Are you as obsessed as I am? ;)

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Friends!
Here are a few of my favorite finds this week.

Fruit Cubes via Pip & Ebby

This beautiful Agate ring that my mom found while we were thrifting.
It totally seems like a piece where someone is learning how to metalsmith but I love it!

Baby Clownfish!! Photo by Davide Lopresti

Penne Broccoli from Squistos.

...And this.

I hope you have an amazing weekend! :)

My Dogs Think They're Models.

I'm not even kidding with the Post topic...
My Dogs, Max and Mason really think they're models.

In a minute yesterday they made these poses as I had my phone camera on.
Here is the photographic proof...

After these photos, they ran around in circles because they knew it was in fact their Dinner time.

Have a great day, Happy Thursday! :)

How I store my Small Collage Images

I store my small, easy to lose, collage images/text in Slide Pages.
Slide Pages are plastic sheets with 2" x 2" inch squares with the purpose of holding photography slides.

Not only do they store all my small bits in a simple way, but they're clear.
...and can be tucked away in a binder to save space.

If you're looking for a way to store your small images, pick up a few.

Happy Tuesday!

Let's Look Under the Sea

I finished these artist trading cards today for a swap over on AtcsforAll.

Say hello to my little Sea friends...

Mixed Media: Watercolors, Prismacolor Colored Pencils, Micron pens and some blue liquid ink that I found at a thrift store last summer.

I think the Snowflake Moray Eel is my favorite.
They're really quirky, fascinating creatures.
I used to work at an aquarium store in high school and when I cleaned the tanks, there was an older injured one that used to always swim over near my hand almost like he was saying hello.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Dodgers and Orioles

Our Saturday was spent at Camden yards, watching the O's beat the Dodgers 7-5 in the first game of a double header.

Our tickets were originally for Friday night but it was rained out and re-scheduled.
We had a blast and fully enjoyed the game.

We were spotted twice on the jumbotron!
...The first time, I was attempting to Open a box of Cracker Jacks...
...The second time, Jason and I were dancing with our hands in the air.

I was overjoyed to find out the Orioles won that second game last night!

I'm hoping for a clean sweep today! :)

Happy Sunday Friends! :)

Comfort in the form of Food: Mini Collages

Food "Inchies"
1" x 1" inch mixed media collages.
Found Images, Watercolor, Copper and Gold Jacquard Pigment, Daniel Smith Watercolor, Acrylic, Sharpie, Mod Podge

In times of distress many of us find comfort in food, a warm meal or a tasty snack.

I'm not much in the mood to write about anything today, I've been glued to the news like everyone else I know.

I'm praying for those affected by the bombings in Boston and Baghdad.

...as well as those effected by the earthquake in Pakistan and Iran.

Make sure to tell your loved ones they're loved and appreciated today.

The Sea

Recent ATCs for a swap, traded, 2013.

The Sea
Lillian B. Rose

The sea, the sea: calling out to you and me
Waves rush in to caress the sand
Only to roll out again

The sea, the sea: calmness in its water
But in one fowl swoop
The calm has turned sour

The sea, the sea: breezes clear as day
Salty air meets our lips
Longer, will we stay?

The sea, the sea: soft sand beneath our feet
Breeze cooling our hot hands
One look at your eyes and I Know

The sea, the sea: our ally and friend
The seascape drawing us in
In triumph, two sweethearts together
Creating Minstrels in the sand.

-Lillian B. Rose
(poem found via poemhunter dot com)

I've been having many daydreams about the ocean lately.
I think I am just really excited for summer weather coming soon.
What about you? Are you ready for sea breezes and sunny skies like me?

Happy Monday!

YOLO Monday

Saturday! Acme Bar. Fun Toys for All. Annapolis.

Jason and I had a lovely Saturday, we went downtown and had some fun!

This is us last Saturday before we hit up an Orioles game at Camden Yards.

We walked around the water and hit up one of my favorite local stops to eat at.
It's Called Acme Bar & Grill. Seriously, if you are ever in Annapolis I highly recommend this place.
Here is their website.

The food is fresh and fairly inexpensive.

...While it's definitely a bar, it has a family atmosphere and even serves Sunday brunch.

I loved when our waitress brought out our coasters, they made me miss Lawrence, Kansas and Kansas City a bit...

They only had Boulevard's Tank 7 though so I passed on the beer.

For appetizers, Jason ordered some Onion Rings and I ordered the Cream of Crab Soup...

....some of the best Cream of Crab Soup you can find in Annapolis! Yum!

When It came to our meals, Jason ordered some Sliders...

I don't eat beef but even I thought they looked delicious!
Jason was so full after his onion rings, he only ate two and the waitress immediately thought there was something wrong with them.
Jason assured her he was just full and they were great...and then later ate the rest for dinner!

I ordered a salad, it was perfect.
I loved the fact that it had fresh blue cheese and tortilla chips too!

After we finished our delicious meal, we walked around a bit more and visited an awesome Toy Store!
It's called Fun For All Toys.

There is an amazing selection of games and nostalgic toys from the 80s/early 90s. So many fun little things, that are reasonably priced too!

I ended up purchasing a pack of sun paper to make some prints and these little bits...

I really like the Dead Bull one, ha!

I'll definitely be going back to that Toy Store soon.

Did you have a lovely weekend? Do tell! :)

Friday's Favorites!

I should tell you that I have a love/hate relationship with facebook.
I find something odd about the idea of "Friending" everyone you've ever known to a page on the internet.
I don't get the concept of adding people you never talked to in grade school and have nothing in common with now.

I also think people tend to go out of their way to get people to look at their page and like their stuff.
I constantly tell Jason, I'm so over the book of face...

...and then he catches me checking it on my phone again. oops.

I am a real facebook lurker after all.

Today's Friday Favorites is from some lovely things I found via my facebook feed this week.

Trees are worth so much more than meets the eye apparently. My treehuggin' self loves this. Our yearbook quotes had to start with "Proud to be..." And My high school Senior yearbook quote was "Proud to be a Treehuggin' Hippie." I'm dead serious.

This describes my life while in art school, I definitely spend more on groceries then art supplies now anyway.

Such an odd church bulletin. Many Abstract Artists are Spiritual and Religious People, including myself. Check out some reading on Barnett Newman.

I have no idea who made this cake, but if I'm ever mad at anyone...make me this cake and you're forgiven.

Simple and to the point. We all should read more.

Speaking of all this facebook talk, I do a fan page for this blog which you can like on the sidebar ;)

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend! Happy Friday!
